The last Bach Vespers of our 2018-2019 season will be on Sunday, May 27 at 5:00 p.m., when the Bach Choir & Ensemble sing J. S. Bach’s Cantata 194, Höchsterwünschtes Freudenfest (“Welcome Joyous Festal Day”). This monumental work was written for Trinity Sunday and is an amazingly demanding work for vocalists and instrumentalists. Our soloists will be soprano Amanda Bower, tenor Jason Vest, and baritone Christian Pursell.
Following Vespers, we invite patrons to join us at the Little Miami Brewing Company in nearby Old Milford (208 Mill St. Milford, OH 45150) for an post-Vespers get together. They will have reserved tables for B.E.S.T. patrons on their tented patio next to the Little Miami River.
This Vespers service will bring to a close another remarkable season of the Bach Vespers. Ending its sixth year, the Bach Ensemble continues in its mission to present the sacred cantatas on J. S. Bach in their intended context of worship, for which they were written. The Bach Vespers continues to be one of the truly unique spiritual and musical experiences in the region.
