Sergey Tkachenko
Bass-Baritone
Ukrainian-American bass, conductor, and pianist, Sergey Tkachenko, maintains an active performance schedule with the Bach Ensemble at St. Thomas , Cincinnati’s Vocal Arts Ensemble, the Union, and the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir. In March of 2025, Sergey sang with the JSB Ensemble, part of the Internationale Bach Akademie and Festival in Stuttgart, Germany. He was recently featured on the Grammy award-winning album for the film Maestro, directed by Bradley Cooper.
From 2023–24, Sergey served as the May Festival Conducting Fellow, under the tutelage of Robert Porco. Sergey is the Music Director at Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati. Before moving to the midwest, Sergey directed three choirs and the annual musicals at Moorestown High School, NJ, actively participating in NJACDA and NJMEA. Outside of choral music, he enjoys playing chamber music, hiking, and the culinary arts. Sergey is currently pursuing his doctorate in choral conducting at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, researching the New Russian Choral School. He is a sought-after coach in Russian and Ukrainian diction. Sergey earned his BM in Music Education from Westminster Choir College and his MM in Choral Conducting from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
