Bach Vespers Season Finale!

BACH VESPERS FOR PENTECOST

Sunday, June 4th at 5pm (lecture at 4:30pm)

The Bach Ensemble of St. Thomas concludes its Vespers season on Sunday, June 4th with a Bach Vespers for Pentecost. The featured cantata is Erschallet, ihr Lieder, erklinget, ihr Saiten! BWV 172, one of J. S. Bach’s favorites as it received numerous performances and revisions throughout his compositional career. Scored for strings, three trumpets, timpani, soloists and choir, this festive piece will resound throughout the glorious acoustics of the Parish Hall. The prelude to the service will be the equally festive Concerto for Two Trumpets by Vivaldi. The BEST are joined by the St. Thomas Parish Choir in this glorious work. At the reception following the service, there will also be a chance to bid farewell to our regular bass soloist and Music Associate, Jonathan Cooper, who will be starting a new position as Communications Manager for the National Association of Episcopal Schools in NYC in mid-June.
