The Cincinnati Bach Ensemble presents a special Bach Vespers as part of the month-long Cincinnati Bach Festival. The Ensemble and the St. Thomas Schola Cantorum will join soloists Manami White, violin, Kerrie Caldwell, soprano and Errik Hood, bass in performing three remarkable works by J. S. Bach as part of an evening service of reflection.
Bach: Chaccone from the Partita for Violin, No. 2*
Bach: Cantata 32, Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen
Bach: Cantata 84, Ich bin vergnügt mit meinem Glücke
Manami White, violin, will perform the Chaconne will be perform with choral fragments from the cantata Christ lag in Todesbanden, similar to a recent CD from the Hilliard Ensemble. Musicologist Helga Thoene has proposed that the harmonic outline of the Chaconne was based on this chorale tune. Vocal soloists for the performance are Kerrie Caldwell, soprano (http://www.kerriecaldwell.com) and Errik Hood (www.errikhood.com).
